About & Research
Research-led team assessment, built in South Africa.
Team Assessment with Immediate Feedback by TAIFLab The approach turns an assessment question into a structured conversation in which students reason together, commit to a decision, receive immediate feedback, and learn while their thinking is still active.
TAIFLab
Developed from South African higher-education practice.
TAIF Learning Lab is operated in South Africa by TAIFLab. Its foundations in accounting education bring collaborative team assessment together with immediate formative feedback and a deliberate focus on discussion, reconsideration, and professional skills.
The digital platform carries those learning principles into a classroom workflow for educators and students across disciplines.
Original study
Students’ experience of team assessment with immediate feedback.
The original peer-reviewed paper was first published online on 2 November 2018 and subsequently appeared in the journal’s 2019 volume. It reports that most students experienced TAIF positively and recognised learning benefits in collaboration and immediate feedback.

The learning principles remain; the classroom workflow evolves.
Teams reason together before committing to a decision. Revealing an answer gives immediate correctness feedback. Later attempts can earn reduced credit, and an incorrect result creates a reason to reconsider. Digital class, team, assessment, attendance, and results management replaces the original paper-based workflow.
TAIF Learning Lab is not affiliated with TAIF Digital Institute.
